    LETTING IT OUT.

// \\\ fears, doubts, anxieties.  wishes, hopes and dreams, too.  \\\//

/\/\/\ When we share them, we don’t have to carry them anymore--we can feel lighter, less alone, and more clear.  /\/\/\/\

We call this brand of letting it out :

    *soft stories*

    noun.
-the stories that reveal our most vulnerable, tender selves.

They're the stories we don’t usually tell in a job interview, to acquaintances, or on a first date. Most times we don’t even share the entirety of them with our closest friends.

They’re the parts of ourselves that can make us feel isolated, embarrassed and less adequate -- and sharing them requires presence and vulnerability. But by *LETTING THEM OUT* we can connect.

Being a human person with feelings it a lot, but what makes it a little easier is that, someone (likely many people) understand what you’ve been through and what you’ll go through. Revealing our *soft stories* connects us and making us feel less alone in a world with so much division and isolation. If we were more honest with each other, we could see each other and connect.

I believe sharing authentically is useful, cathartic, and healthy.

LET IT OUT is a space for that.

Shame researcher and sociologist Brené Brown says shame dissipates when shared. In her book Daring Greatly she says,

    IFWECANSHAREOURSTORYWITHSOMEONEWHORESPONDSWITHEMPATHYANDUNDERSTANDING,SHAMECAN'TSURVIVE.

Pervious podcast guest Lacy Phillips encourages sharing your most embarrassing parts of your shadow to release their hold over you often says,

    "WHATYOUDON'TOWN,OWNSYOU."

these quotes feed our [strong] case encouraging you to

Feelings feelings meants high highs, low lows, and a lot of time in-between. It's a spectrum, I often swing too far in one direction, but life isn’t about staying in one spot it’s remaining soft enough to bounce when you fall and hard enough to survive the landing.

We'd love to hear your *soft stories* We'll be publishing community stories & hosting *soft story* telling events. Stay updated here.
