I love love. We all do – our society is obsessed with romantic love and rightfully so. It’s intense, wonderful and magical, until it’s terrible and awful, depending on what phase of a relationship or lack there of you’re in. I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day ever since I was a kid and made a ‘mailbox’ out of a shoebox. This year my heart is tender, but I still made an episode about love. I’m joined by a co-host this week – my friend Sacha Jones. As a wedding officiant, she is literally in the business of love! We talk a bit about where I’m at with love. I also interview Lacy Phillips on all angles of romantic love – breathing life into an existing relationship, personal growth within relationship, heartbreak and breakups, dating, and communication.  I’ve found relationships to be a great tool for personal growth since they illuminate the areas we most need to grow. They’re hard, they’re messy, they’re beautiful, and I’m happy we have an entire episode talking about them. I hope you feel loved today and everyday. Thanks for listening.

“Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.  And when it subsides you have to make a decision.  You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.  Because this is what love is.

Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being in love, which any fool can do.  Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.

Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground, and, when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two.”
