Let It Out | Meena Harris

This week I spoke with Meena Harris, a Harvard-educated lawyer, best-selling children's book author, founder and CEO of Phenomenal, and mom. Meena's outstanding work in social change and empowerment is in her blood - she's the niece of vice president elect Kamala Harris and the daughter of Kamala's sister Maya Harris, a civil rights lawyer and public policy advocate, who once led the nation's largest ACLU affiliate. Meena's first book Kamala and Maya's Big Idea is based on her mom and aunt, and her second book Ambitious Girl was just published. We talk about the inspiration and process behind both books, as well as the need for inclusion within children's literature. We also spoke about community building, organizing, writing, motherhood, friendship, being an only child raised by successful powerful women, and more.
